Your site should have a minimum of 4 to 6 hours of sunlight.
Your site needs electrical power.
Your pond should be enjoyed from a deck or patio, or easily viewed from the inside of your home.
Do not locate under trees.
Locate marshy zone on the far side of the pond so as to not impede view (marshy zones contain marsh plants: iris, cattails, reeds, etc.)
Always dig in an area of unearthed soil so sides do not cave in while digging.
Do not locate pond in low area of yard otherwise runoff will end up in pond. Runoff may contain fertilizers or pesticides.
Lay out a garden hose the size and shape you desire and live with this a few days.
Must be safe for small children with a gradual incline into pond.
Depth requirements according to your municipality, usually 2' to 3' deep. Please call for town specifications so you do not need a fence.
