Planning Your Pond
Your site should have a minimum of 4 to 6 hours of
sunlight. |
Your site needs electrical power. |
Your pond should be enjoyed from a deck or patio, or
easily viewed from the inside of your home. |
Do not locate under trees. |
Locate marshy zone on the far side of the pond so as
to not impede view (marshy zones contain marsh
plants: iris, cattails, reeds, etc.) |
Always dig in an area of unearthed soil so sides do
not cave in while digging. |
Do not locate pond in low area of yard otherwise
runoff will end up in pond. Runoff may contain
fertilizers or pesticides. |
Lay out a garden hose the size and shape you desire
and live with this a few days. |
Must be safe for small children with a gradual
incline into pond. |
Depth requirements according to your municipality,
usually 2' to 3' deep. Please call for town
specifications so you do not need a fence. |
